Dutch manufacturer is looking for partners to find solutions for heating tap water in low temperature heat networks

Country of Origin: Netherlands
Reference Number: TRNL20201119001
Publication Date: 23 November 2020

Summary

A Dutch manufacturing company specializing in products for the built environment is looking for improved technical solutions to heat tap water in low temperature networks. Solutions that need less space and no high voltage and can be used in renovation or transformation projects. The company is looking for cooperation under a technical cooperation agreement, a commercial agreement with technical assistance or a license agreement. This profile refers to an online open innovation platform.

Description

In the Netherlands the aim is to disconnected buildings from the natural gas grid. One of the alternatives to the gas network is a low temperature heat network. But finding solutions for a lot of challenges is needed.

One of these challenges is to deliver the demand for hot tap water from a low temperature network. In the Netherlands the temperature of warm tap water has to be over 65 degrees Celsius to prevent Legionella bacteria contamination. The heating of the tap water up to 65 degree Celsius should be rapid, offering the residents the comfort of taking a shower, two persons in a household after each other.

Current solutions to provide the hot water in a short time, by keeping it hot or heating it quickly, requires a lot of space or energy. The use of Phase Changing Material takes a lot of space, the energy for quick heating can only be provided by electricity delivered by a special in-house 380 V electricity connection.

The company is a manufacturer and supplier of products for hydronic flow control, heat exchanging units from sources (like boilers) to emitters (like radiators) for domestic heating purposes.

Cooperation might take place in the frame of a technical cooperation agreement, a commercial agreement with technical assistance, but other cooperation agreements like a license agreement could also be discussed later.

IMPORTANT: This technology request refers to an innovation challenge published on an open internet platform. If an organization expresses interest before the closing date, it will be guided towards this open innovation platform. After registration participants can browse free through other submissions and engage in discussions. All submissions will get feedback by the company on this open platform. The challenge closes on January 11nd 2021. Mind that posts on this platform are not confidential. Beside open discussions on the platform, sharing of confidential information will be made possible on demand. After that, the firm will select the organizations with whom they would like to cooperate in the development of a solution. Once the challenge is closed, expressions of interest for this technology request will be treated in the traditional way.

Expertise sought

The Dutch company is looking for a partner with technical expertise in:
- Heat transfer to water
- Hydronic flow control

Requested partner

The aim of the Dutch company is to bring the solution to the market.

If the partner can provide a proven solution, the Dutch company would like to collaborate under a commercial agreement with technical assitance with a manufacturer or supplier of (sub)assemblies.

In case they can produce the solution in their own factory a license agreement could be the best option.

If the solution has to be developed together under a technical cooperation agreement, the type of partner looked for is a SME or start-up in engineering or a R&D department of a larger company.

Interested parties are invited to establish first contact via the open innovation platform.
